The University awarded a contract for SPRINT PNS devices.
This exemption is for SPRINT PNS (Peripheral Nervous System) device is used to treat chronic and acute pain by sending gentle electrical pulses through a thin, percutaneous lead placed near a targeted nerve. This device is used in orthopedic cases for the treatment of nerve injuries.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These are medical deives used for direct patient care.
