The University awarded a contract for ICP Mass Spectrometer.
Inductively-Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometer for sponsored research.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The ICP-MS is needed for diverse sponsored research of the PI, five co-PIs, and collaborators from six academic departments across three colleges. This instrument will be a key facility for the NIEHS P-30 Grant "Chicago Center for Health and Environment".
