The University awarded a contract for Attune NxTAcoustic Focusing Cytometer.
Attune NxTAcoustic Focusing Cytometer (blue/red/violet/yellow laser) is an instrument with high sensitivity and precision in a small footprint that is simple to use at any experience level. The system enables analyzing and counting cells in suspension, and can be used to quantitate sub-populations of cells based on physical properties and fluorescent labels attached to specific proteins.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The Attune flow cytometer is unique in several ways. Analysis runs are fast, sensitive, and easy to analyze. The users of the instrument do not have easy, reliable access to a similar instrument. The users of this instrument will substantially reduce operational costs over several years by the purchase of this instrument. This purchase will allow users to become more efficient and competitive in their fields.
