The University awarded a contract for Nanomechanical Testing System.
Nanomechanical testing system (FemtoTools Model FT-NMT04-XYZ with FT-SEM-ROT/TILT stage). This research equipment is required to enable the University's research. The system must meet several technical requirements. It should be noted that all systems meet a very broad technical requirement of the research (i.e., that they perform nanomechanical testing).
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) One of the technical requirements of the research enabled by the nanomechanical tester is that the equipment possess "rotation and tilt" capabilities. This equipment has met all required specifications for the research.
