The term of resulting contract began on 1/11/2016 when the solar farm became operational and is set to expire 1/10/2026. With the initial term set to expire on 1/10/2026, the university is extending the PPA agreement to 4/10/2026 to allow more time to negotiate current market buyout. Extending beyond 10 years is allowable per 30 ILCS 500/25-47.

The University is seeking a proposal to lease 28.5 acres of land in the South Farms area, for the installation and operation of a Solar Farm. The University will lease the land to the selected Proposer for $1.00 per year, pursuant to lease and development agreements, and establish a Power Purchase Agreement for the renewable energy. The Proposer will be responsible for design, construction, permitting, transportation needs, operation, and maintenance of the Solar Farm.
