The University awarded a contract for testing reagents, consumables, and supplies.
This exemption is for reagents, consumables, and supplies necessary for the operation of the Hologic Panther platform tests for Trichomonas, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea testing for the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Services System patients. The Panther requires no manual pre-amplification, no pre-processing of samples and no uncapping of specimens.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This procurement allows the laboratory to lock in best available pricing for a period of time and
continue to offer our patients the most efficient and accurate results for this very sensitive testing.
Other platforms do not meet the requirements of the laboratories Clinical Pathologists.
