The University awarded a contract for Temporary agency staffing positions.
Temporary agency staffing positions; Registered Nurses, License Practical Nurses, Radiology Technicians, Laboratory Technicians, Certified Nursing Assistants, Environmental Services Staff, and Medical Technologists to fill vacancies in order to provide clinical and support services to our patients. In addition to normal vacancies, additional temporary staff is needed to respond to the COVID-19 disaster, maintain critical operations during the labor dispute, and will also be needed to support our Epic go-live.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Hospital and Clinics have an ongoing need for temporary agency staffing to fill vacancies in order to provide clinical and support services to our patients. In addition to normal vacancies, additional temporary staff is needed to respond to the COVID-19 disaster, strike and will also be needed around our Epic go-live in September 2020. UIC Human Resources has been unable to meet our needs through agencies that they work with.
