Project Description
Life Safety Upgrades: The Project consists of upgrades to expand the buildings fire alarm and sprinkler systems to meet current code requirements, including modifications of existing in place systems & adding full coverage to previously unserved areas. Work will occur in specialized laboratory spaces containing high-powered magnets and sensitive, immovable equipment, requiring careful coordination with the department to minimize disruption. Protective measures, including temporary framed barriers & protections will be required to safeguard equipment during construction. Classroom 100 Renovation: Classroom 100, a general assignment classroom will undergo a full renovation to enhance accessibility, functionality, and teaching capabilities. The lower level will be reconfigured for wheelchair-accessible student seating and instructor areas, and riser inconsistencies will be corrected. The renovation will include new seating with foldable tablet arms, updated demonstration table and instructor workstation, motorized chalkboard system, upgraded exhaust from Room 104, improved acoustics, new suspended ceilings, fixtures and LED lighting, flooring and wall finishes.

ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS ARE ONLY REQUIRED TO ATTEND ONE (1) OF THE TWO (2) AVAILABLE PRE-BID MEETINGS. Representatives of the Owner and the Professional Services Consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. The site visit will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 10:00AM at Noyes Laboratory at 505 S. Matthews Avenue Urbana, IL 61801 at the courtyard north of the building.
