Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Service and maintenance to electrophysiology (EP) systems that support a full range of electrophysiology lab services, including cardiac mapping and navigation (OPAL), signal recording and analysis (LabSystem Pro), pacing and stimulation during procedures (MicroPace), and ablation therapy delivery (Farastar), with additional systems (MetriQ and Maestro) supporting workflow, data integration, and procedure optimization.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) If this exemption is not approved, patient cases may need to be canceled due to the inability to maintain equipment reliability and service continuity. Additionally, the University would likely incur significantly higher costs for preventative maintenance and repairs if services were obtained on a time-and-materials basis rather than through an agreement. This could result in increased downtime, delayed patient care, and unplanned operational expenses.
