The University awarded a contract for Quicktome Brain Mapping Platform.
The purchase of the Quicktome Brain Mapping Platform. Quicktome creates personalized structural and functional brain maps from standard MRI data, providing physicians with detailed visualization of patient-specific brain networks responsible for critical functions such as language, movement, cognition, and speech. These insights enable surgeons to better identify and preserve functional brain regions during surgical procedures, reducing the risk of postoperative neurological deficits and improving patient outcomes.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Without access to this subscription, physicians would lose a critical tool for personalized brain mapping, potentially increasing the risk of damage to essential brain networks during surgery, limiting treatment planning capabilities, and reducing opportunities to maximize patient safety and therapeutic effectiveness.
