The University awarded a contract for lab testing services.
This purchase is for lab testing services for the UIC Adolescent and Young Adult Research, AYAR, projects and the Adolescents Trial Network ,ATN, including HIV testing.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Laboratory Corporation of America is a trusted lab service for the ATN. The current clinical trial cannot begin recruitment until this contract is established. The ATN has various extensions that will bring in additional grant funding to the University, and this partnership will facilitate their implementation.
