The vendor will provide a 205kW biomass boiler capable of producing hot water for space heating from chopped biomass (Miscanthus). System will include the boiler, feedstock handling/conveyance mechanism, 2000 gallon hot water storage vessel, and associated control, pumps, and heat exchanger to achieve a functional heat system. Campus F&S Job Order Contracting (JOCS) will be responsible for the piping and associated equipment to convey the hot water produced from this system in this purchase to the end point for space heating of the greenhouse building at 4110 S. Race St. Urbana, IL.

The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the This is the only vendor that has been identified which can provide a biomass boiler capable of using chopped perennial grasses (Miscanthus) - the fuel source to be used in this project - as the primary source of feedstock fuel.
