The University awarded a contract for lease-to-own Combine.
This combine is needed to facilitate timely harvest of research trials being conducted at multiple locations around the State of Illinois. Currently, the department is forced to rent equipment on a case by case basis during the harvest season, and with rising gas and tariff charges, we anticipate increasing rental costs in coming years. The lease allows us to allocate funds over time and to benefit immediately from the use of sorely needed equipment specifically chosen to meet our needs.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations.
