Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Vendor will provide Papzimeos, an FDA-approved immunotherapy injection indicated for the treatment of adults with Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP).

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Without this exemption, UI Health may be unable to provide this immunotherapy treatment to patients with RRP, potentially requiring patients to seek treatment from other providers. Providing access to this therapy may reduce the need for repeated airway and vocal cord surgeries and supports continuity of patient care. Failure to offer this treatment could result in the loss of patients and associated clinical revenue to UI Health.
