The University awarded a contract for child care services.
Ivy Garden Learning Center will provide early care and education services to enrolled children of UIC students as part of the Child Care Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) In order for the University to be in compliance with the grant that we are working under, we need to use the money that we have been allotted to provide childcare for our students. In doing so, we will enable our students to study, better and learn more without the financial strain of childcare. This will increase University graduation and retention rates.
