The University awarded a contract for RQI Partners, LLC.
American Heart Association (AHA) accredited Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) System. The RQI system uniquely delivers and maintains official AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) competency credentials within a single, integrated competency-based platform. It combines online learning with hands-on performance measurement to help ensure verified CPR competence.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Studies show that CPR skills can decline quickly after the standard two-year BLS, ACLS, and PALS training. The American Heart Association (AHA) states that poor-quality CPR is a preventable patient safety risk. Each year, more than 200,000 cardiac arrests occur in U.S. hospitals, and survival rates vary widely. The delivery of high-quality CPR is the single highest determinant of survival from cardiac arrest. The RQI Digital Programs are deeply rooted in the latest science that helps lead hospitals on an immediate journey to high-quality and verified CPR competence to maximize life saving outcomes. It combines online learning with hands-on performance measurement to help ensure verified CPR competence. Implementing this program reduces financial and operational burdens by limiting the cost of external training vendors. Implementing the program will also help save the lives of Illinois residents suffering from a cardiac arrest.
