The University awarded a contract for surgical supplies.
ConMed surgical supplies are used in biliary and endoscopic ultrasound procedures. These tests combine ultrasound and endoscopy to examine the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, and bile ducts. During the procedure, your doctor inserts a long, flexible tube called an endoscope, which has a tiny camera, light, and an attached ultrasound probe. The supplies include transbronchial needles, forceps, probes, stents, and other related items.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These are medical supplies used in direct patient care.
