Globus is a nonprofit platform sustained by the University of Chicago, subscriber support, and federal funding from the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health, its structure is mission-driven rather than commercially motivated. Globus Subscription Services: Globus, a non-profit organization affiliated with the University of Chicago, provides subscription-based license services utilized by UIC researchers to support their research activities.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This project is sponsored by federal funds from the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
