The University awarded a contract for post-acute patient care.
Aperion Care, Incorporated (Facility) will provide post-acute care for patients with the services and care available from Facility or arranged for by the Facility from outside providers in the same manner as other residents of Facility including, but not limited to, nursing services, Facility room and board services, and personal care services customarily provided to Facility residents such as personal care assistance in activities of daily living, socializing activities, administration of medication, supervising and assisting in the use of durable medical equipment, and prescribed therapies including those in Patient?s Plan of Care.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Aperion Care, Incorporated?s service is direct patient care. Without access to their services, the University of Illinois Hospital would not be able to offer services described above, that in turn would drive patients elsewhere and result in a loss of revenue to the Hospital.
