Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Gas chromatographs (GC), mass sectrometers, and gas supply system components for the GC - pressure regulators, in-line filters, oxy-traps, hydrocarbon traps, valves vacuum pumps, gas phase valves, column adapters and fittings GC columns will be various columns for separation of hydrocarbons, halogens and sulphuric compounds in the GC.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Additional purchases from Agilent build on the best practices and educational methods previously developed in the High Pressure Shock Tube lab. These best practices include interchanging parts from the various Agilent instruments already in the laboratory, using and learning existing Agilent equipment for analysis and implementing proven analytic techniques using Agilent equipment. The educational methods not only include optimization of learning Agilent equipment for chemical analysis, but also the learning of analysis protocol. The grant being used for this purchase is ARL W911NF-20-2-0223 Grant code EA823 Fund 484296.
