The University awarded a contract for community health workers.
Envision Community Services will provide bi-lingual Community Health Workers that will work with the Healthcare Transformation Collaborative to transform health care delivery in the Gage Park and West Elsdon neighborhoods with a distinct focus on addressing the community needs.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This procurement is in the best interests of the University because this is a small Latino community-based organization located in an undeserved community. This will give the University an opportunity to continue to work and be a part of the local communities in Chicago.
