The University awarded a contract for security services.
This exemption is for security services for the Credit Union 1 Arena and the Dorin Forum.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2)) Credit Union 1 Arena and the Dorin Forum need these services to host successful events to generate revenue for UIC. We will not have security to monitor the object detectors at the entrances and no general security throughout the building during events. In addition, we will have the vendor to also fill in as ushers when we cannot get enough student ushers to work shifts for events. Not having these security services will result in a loss in revenue.
