Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

This exemption is for interventional cardiology and radiology supplies. These supplies consist of needle sets, catheters, stents, guidewires, pledgets, hemostasis valves, and additional ancillaries.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Teleflex supplies are essential for direct patient care. Without access to these specific supplies, the hospital would be unable to provide interventional cardiology and radiology. This would lead patients to seek treatment elsewhere, resulting in a loss of revenue for the hospital.
