The University awarded a contract for Carto 3 EP System supplies.
This exemption is for the purchase of disposable supplies used with the J&J Biosense Webster Carto 3 EP System. The Carto 3 EP System is a three-dimensional electroanatomical mapping system that employs magnetic technology and advanced catheter location methods to create real-time virtual maps of a patient's heart. This system assists electrophysiologists in diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias by visualizing the catheters and their precise locations within the heart, enabling accurate catheter ablation procedures.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These disposable supplies are for patient care.
