The University awarded a contract for spinal cage implants and ancillaries.
This exemption is for expandable interbody spinal cage implants and ancillaries used during spinal surgeries. This is an alternative to the traditional screws and cages used during spinal procedures and provides a powerful and continuous lifting mechanism for the spine after surgery.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These implants are for direct patient care.
