The University awarded a contract for neuro/ortho power tools.
The Stryker neuro/ortho power tools and related disposable accessories are used in neurosurgery, spine, and other bone-related surgical procedures. The power tools are used in bone cutting, drilling, reaming, decorticating, and shaping during surgical procedures. These tools include attachments and adapters, cutting accessories, burs drill bits, routers, rasps, reamers, and additional ancillary accessories.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These medical supplies are used in direct patient care.
