The University awarded a contract for reagent and consumables.
This exemption is for the purchase of reagent and consumables for the operation of the ID Now point of care testing instruments used in the Emergency Department of the Hospital. This will serve as a rapid screen of patients for Flu, Strep A and RSV.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These reagents and consumables are medical supplies for direct patient care.
