The University awarded a contract for neurostimulation systems and related ancillaries.
Lungpacer Medical USA provides neurostimulation systems, related ancillaries, and minimally invasive catheters designed to stimulate the phrenic nerve and strengthen the diaphragm muscle in patients receiving mechanical ventilation. These systems are intended to reduce ventilator-induced injury and support earlier and safer weaning from mechanical ventilation. These supplies include catheters, sensors, and ancillary accessories and related medical equipment
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These are medical supplies for direct patient care.
