The University awarded a contract for robotic supplies and related disposable accessorie.
Robotic supplies and related disposable accessories used during minimally invasive robotic surgeries. The robotic system is used in conjunction with accessories and ancillary instruments such as fenestrated bipolar forceps, needle drivers, ProGrasp forceps, drape kits, cautery hooks, and round-tip scissors. These surgical instruments can be attached to and detached from the robotic system, allowing the surgeon to manipulate tools within the surgical cavity during the procedure.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These are medical supplies for direct patient care.
