The University awarded a contract for research proposal development service.
Research proposal review and development services needed for securing grants for the College of Engineering.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The UIC College of Engineering has been working with Hanover Research for the past 2 years. The College saw increase in grant expenditures of approximately $5M in 2019 and $9M in 2020. The most recent NCF CAREER grant in the College was based on a proposal reviewed by Hanover, and awards such as these add prestige to the College and UIC as a whole.
