The University awarded a contract for a Mode-Locked Solid-State Picosecond Laser..
Mode-Locked Solid-State Picosecond Laser. This instrument will be used for elemental trace analyses of solar wind samples in a NASA funded project (Grant No. NNX16AG9).
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This instrument is needed for a NASA funded project "Determination of Trace Element Abundances in Genesis Solar Wind Collectors by Resonance Ionization Mass Spectrometry" (grant NNX16AG9). We are building a new Resonance Ionization Mass Spectrometry (RIMS) instrument for elemental trace analyses of solar wind samples delivered by the Genesis mission under this award.
