The University awarded a contract for MR Imaging System.
MR Imaging System fueled by GE's SIGNA Works platform that provides exceptional image quality, high throughput, increased patient comfort, and a powerful and simplified user-centric operation.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The Department of Radiology-MRI is upgrading a system that was purchased in 1999 with a minor software upgrade in 2004. Today's healthcare challenges are growing and becoming more specific to individual patient needs. For challenges like this, GE SIGNA Explorer can address not only the clinical needs, but operational and financial needs as well. We have had considerable downtime on the current unit over the last few years and have determined that replacing the unit with modern design magnet will improve patient care by providing exceptional images as well as improved productivity by reducing downtime.
