The University awarded a contract for Glucose Testing Supplies .
Purchase of glucose testing supplies for point-of-care testing performed within the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System. Glucose monitoring is essential for determining patients medication and food requirements as well as stability while hospitalized.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Point-of-care testing allows providers the ability to make patient care decisions quickly and with direct access to patients rather than having to wait for possibly lengthy lab tests.
