The University awarded a contract for Gammagard Immune Globulin.
Gammagard Immune Globulin is used to increase antibodies in the blood to fight infection or prevent an illness and infection. This is needed for patients of UI Health, including but not limited to, Hematology, Oncology and Fertility.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The discontinuation of Flebogamma Immune Globulin by Grifols is creating a market shortage. We need to purchase Gammagard Immune Globulin to make up the difference. We use Immune Globilin for patients of UI Health, including but not limited to, Hemnatology, Oncology and Fertility. This is a very important treatment at UI Health.
