The University awarded a contract for antibodies and reagents.
Purchase of supplies (antibodies and reagents) for the operation of the Lecia Bond and Peloris instruments currently in place in the IHC Laboratory. These instruments are used for the care of UI Health patients for the diagnosis of cancers and direction of treatment.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Without these antibodies and reagent supplies the IHC Lab would not be able to perform critical patient care testing for some of the most vulnerable patients.
