The University awarded a contract for Poseidon Select System.
Develop and deliver Poseidon Select System - Protochips Inc. is the only vendor of in-stu TEM stages that is capable of delivering a in-situ liquid cell small enough to fit into the JEOL ARM200CF.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The funds to be used to purchase this equipment were specifically awarded to UIC by DoD to purchase Poseidon Heating with Electrochemistry holder to be used in the JEOL ARM200CF at UIC. This piece of equipment will benefit more than 9 faculty members at UIC, whose research relies on the timely completion of this acquisition. This purchase will also make UIC compliant with the DoD Equipment grant goals/tasks.
