The University awarded a contract for nVue System for Dual Color In Vivo Imaging.
This is a miniature microscope and software analysis system that will allow imaging of cellular brain activity in freely behaving familial Alzheimers mice in order to collect and analyze data of their neurons as described in the Aims of RF1AG033570, Plasticity circuits in Alzheimers disease.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The specifications this equipment has is necessary for research grant, and a supplement was submitted to NIH to purchase this particular unit, and was funded under 3RF1AG033570-11S1.
