The University awarded a contract for strategic planning services.
Afton Bloom is providing strategic planning services to support Illinois stakeholders to accelerate progress toward maternal health and birth equity. The objectives are to articulate high level strategic goals for maternal health to guide the strategic plan and road-map to action, move Illinois stakeholders to action quickly on concrete problems that organizations commit to solving through aligned action and or collaboration, guide public policy, private sector action, and philanthropic investment in a time of resource uncertainty, and establish collaborative infrastructure for ongoing multi-sector collaboration.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) if not approved, this would cause delays in our ability to strategic plan around birth equity leading to worse outcomes and wider disparities.
