Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Gottingen minipigs for a follow-up 28 day study, building on a previous 7 day dosing study conducted in 2023. This continuity in research advances scientific knowledge and strengthens the Universitys reputation in the field of cancer research.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This procurement is in the best interests of the University because it fulfills a contractual obligation with the National Cancer Institute, which specifically requires the use of this strain of minipigs for research purposes. By sourcing these minipigs, the University ensures compliance with the terms of the contract, thereby maintaining a positive relationship with the National Cancer Institute.
