The University awarded a contract for Biosense Webster Carto3 Electro system supplies.
Procurement of Biosense Webster Carto 3 Electro-Physiology System medical supplies used in cardiology procedures, specifically for heart-related treatments.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) If this exemption is not approved, UI Health will be unable to perform essential procedures in the electrophysiology (EP) lab, including EP studies, 3D mapping, and ablations of abnormal electrical conduction pathways in the heart. These procedures are critical for life-saving and preventative surgeries. Without access to the necessary disposables used with the Biosense Webster Carto 3 Electro-Physiology System, UI Health would be unable to provide these vital services to patients.
