The University awarded a contract for (5) EPIC Echo CVx Ultrasound Systems.
Acquisition of five (5) EPIC Echo CVx Ultrasound Systems to support advanced cardiovascular and general imaging needs. These systems provide high-resolution imaging, real-time quantification, and workflow integration, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. Purchase includes standard accessories, software, installation, training, and manufacturer support.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) If this is not approved, clinics would be unable to perform echocardiography procedures, resulting in delayed or limited diagnostic capabilities. This would negatively impact patient care, lower the quality of services provided, and potentially increase overall healthcare costs to the State due to referrals, outsourcing, or complications from delayed diagnoses.
