The University awarded a contract for Repair and preventative maintenance services.
Procurement of repair and preventative maintenance services for Premium Ultrasound Systems utilized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UI Health. The scope of services includes replacement of parts due to normal wear and tear, scheduled preventative maintenance, and on-site technical support provided by certified field service engineers.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) If this exemption is not approved, the absence of an Annual Service Agreement will significantly increase the risk of prolonged equipment downtime in the Center for Womens Health at UI Health, directly affecting patient care and clinical operations. Additionally, the cost to repair transducer probes can reach up to $9,500 per probe, with 18 probes covered under this contract. Without the agreement, repair costs alone could become substantial, leading to higher unplanned expenditures. By approving the contract, the State ensures cost savings, operational efficiency, and continuity of essential healthcare services.
