Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Pneumatic Tube System (PTS) Preventive Maintenance and Software Agreement. The maintenance agreement includes an on-site representative to come on campus and examine each tube station twice a year, to clean lubricate and rebuild any parts needed to keep the transfer stations functioning appropriately.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The PTS allows the emergency room and units to send patient specimens from the source unit to the labs for testing, allowing a timely and more efficient delivery of specimens to labs for testing, allow diagnosis and results data entry deliverables sooner in the patient electronic medical charts and allows addition transfer of communications and items to units as needed.
