The University awarded a contract for Research Services.
IIT will provide research services to study the effectiveness of portable air cleaners (PACs) in improving indoor air quality or respiratory outcomes in Schools in Illinois.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The funder (Shield of IL) recommended we assemble this team across two Universities given their complementary strengths. Since this is an internal fund the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) recommended to fund the partner via contract.
