The University awarded a contract for A Patchliner Quattro and Parts.
Vendor will provide a Patchliner Quattro and parts. An instrument used for performing fully automated patch clamp electrophysiology.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The Patchliner Quattro is the state-of-the art instrument for performing fully automated patch clamp electrophysiology. Automated patch clamp is the primary technology used in drug discovery and basic science applications to investigate ion channel pharmacology. Currently, there are automated patch clamp instruments on UIC campus, and this instrument would greatly enhance the University's capabilities to investigate ion channels.
