The University awarded a contract for Online Patient Safety Event Reporting.
Online patient Safety Event Reporting software database, hosting services and support services for Patient Safety Organization (PSO) participation. The PSO is now able to advise on patient safety improvement and see how we compare to other similar organizations. PSO participation is required under the Accountable Care Act. This software provides a way for patient safety events to be reported, tracked and reviewed for quality purposes.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) We need a database to which patient safety events are reported. The information from this database can then be easily accessed to help identify patient safety issues and concerns and subsequently extracted by our PSO who can aggregate and analyze this Patient Safety Work Product (PSWP).
