The University awarded a contract for All-in-One Fluorescence Microscope BZ-X1000.
The Keyence microscope offers a compact, flexible, all-in-one option that make it entirely unique and suitable for use in a standard research laboratory. It is both highly economical, yet provides the latest technologies needed to conduct cutting edge imaging.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The All-in-One Fluorescence Microscope is a valuable and required unit that provides cutting edge technology critical for the lab to conduct their research and achieve the results that will bring recognition to the university. If the purchase exemption is not approved, it could negatively impact future funding sources, delay research and decrease the number of publications.
