Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Provide specialized Histology, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Cytology, and Anatomic Pathology diagnostic supplies necessary for the testing of UI Health patient specimens in the Pathology Laboratories.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The vendor provides supplies for a range of testing disciplines which are crucial for patient care in the Hospital. Being able to source all of these supplies from StatLab helps the laboratory to run more efficiently and to simplify operations. If the patient care items were purchased form another company or sourced differently the cost and time constraints to receive the items would render the services non-effective.
