The University awarded a contract for a GeoMx DSP Analysis Instrument.
The GeoMx DSP Analysis Instrument will be used for spatially resolving and non-destructively profiling both RNA and protein expression within tissue samples, such as Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue and fresh frozen selections.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The financial impact to the State if this exemption is not approved would be the reduction in critical research to the community we serve and the clinical hospital where we educate our physicians. We would experience reputation degradation in credible research for which we recruit physicians and students, which is the backbone of our revenue source each and every year.
