Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Regal Medical will provide maintenance services to our Philips Achieva 3T MRI and Dimplex MRI Chiller that are no longer supported by the original manufacturer. Regal Medical will be providing labor, priority service response, scheduled planned maintenance visits, standard parts delivery and service management reports.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This is the only local vendor that supports this system that is no longer supported by original manufacturer. If this system were to go down, there will be no other service support causing a major disruption to UI Health's daily functionality which would have a huge financial impact.
